Describe in detail what your Organisation does:

Bicycles and Beyond was founded in Feb 2015 but was fully established and registered in May 2016. It came about when the two founding members Janine Johnson and Beverley Roode saw the need in the community for the empowerment of women and youth in cycling. The name Bicycles and Beyond came about our giving back to the people and about sharing our knowledge.

Our mission: Developing, learning and the growing of women and youth.

Bicycles and Beyond will be providing a training center of excellence where women and our youth can come and learn about cycling safety, and also provide a safe and friendly area to train in. We will have a professional bicycle technician on site to assist with repairs of bicycles at a nominal fee to keep the program/ project sustainable. We will host holiday programs to in the community to keep our vulnerable youth busy during the school holidays. We will be hosting Ladies cycling events in the community and we will also be doing bicycle tours, spinning classes and ghost rides. We will be empowering the women in the area by training them to be competent cyclist and giving them a basic mechanical course on how to fix their own bikes and the bikes of their families.

Our aim is to do excursions, to take youth on boot camps out of their area and to teach them the necessary life skills that they will need and use in their everyday lives. We aim to empower them with team building exercises to conquer everyday life. To be a mentor for them and to guide them.

Donating of pre- owned bicycles, cycling clothing, cycling accessories, bicycle parts and spares, camping venues, camping equipment, food, beverages, clothing, paid entries for rides for a needy kid, pre-owned office equipment eg laptops, desktops, scanner, copier machine, books, magazine’s, stationery
