  • Describe in detail what your Organisation does:

The name of our programme TB/HIV Wellness, Care and support. Our core functions are to provide preventative, curative and rehabilitative services in order to:
• To prevent illnesses and promote Enrolment of co-infected clients into the continuum of care and provide psycho-social support.

• Following up on the registration of TB patients in the TB register and wellness/pre-ART register including IPT register if co-infected.

• Following up that PLHIV are receiving all the prophylactic treatment (INH, cotrimoxazole) to prevent contraction of TB and other complications.

• Ensuring that TB patients and PLHIV return for scheduled clinical assessments and those on treatment are adherent.

• Early registration of all lost to follow-ups, treatment interrupters and defaulters in the appropriate Registers

• Strengthening of the referral system for tracing of all lost-to-follow-ups, treatment interrupters and defaulters

  • How long has your Organisation been operational?

The organisation has been in existence since 1947

  • In your opinion, what has been the most challenging aspect of running your Organisation?

Sustainability of the organisation due to lack of funding. Fund raising, marketing and partnership development.

Empathy, Inspiration and Implementation

  • Do you collaborate with other Causes? If yes, would you like to mention them?

We work in partnership with the National Department of Health, MUNA Healthlife, and other stakeholders.

  • If you had one Organisation wish, what would it be?

For the organisation to secure enough financial resources to reach grass-root areas, mines, correctional facilities and to assist in other countries where there is high prevalence of TB and HIV.

  • In your opinion, which skills do Nonprofits in your Country lack?

Collaboration with others, financial management and capacity development.

  • Looking back at your Cause Journey, what advice would you give a newbie Organisation?

They must practice openness at all times, involve other knowledgeable members of their communities in operations and their reason to exist should be based on service delivery and profitability should be secondary.

  • If you could change one thing about the Nonprofit Landscape, what would it be?

There should be standardised policies to govern non-profits to avoid unnecessary competition and duplication of services.

  • Which Cause achievement are you most proud of? Feel free to elaborate on why and include any links:

SYNOPSIS OF ACTIVITIES:

a) 03 April 2006 – Collection of donations through cash tins
b) 05 November 2008 – Establishment of soup kitchens in the provinces
c) 09 July 2009 – Establishment of cooperatives through “Do Ubuntu” project
d) 19 November 2010 – Research with Wits University – Incorporation of Good Nutrition programme eradicate and delay complication caused by TB and HIV
e) 2007 – Involvement in reviewing the implementation of the NTCP at a regional/district hospital
f) 2014 – Partnership with NDOH in a TB DOTS strategy coordination programme.
g) Annual TB/HIV fun-walk event sponsored by SABC, Germs, Brightspark and other donors.
h) 2016 – Accreditation as a training service provider by HWSETA.
i) 2017 – Partnership with MUNA Healthlife from Swaziland.

ORGANIZATION’S HIGHLIGHTS:

a) SANTA national Torch symbolizing the burning issue of TB and HIV
b) Annual STOP TB campaigns in partnership with DOH and other stakeholders
c) Improving Cure Rate of TB patients by more than 39%, through an e’Pap project.
d) Formation of a coalition amongst the National Department of Health, SANTA, SA Red Cross and the National Council of Churches

    Our company would like to enquire about TB awareness training. When are you available to assist us? How much is it per person for training? We would like to know the risks, treatment and symptoms.
