Describe in detail what your Organisation does:

ACVV Bright Lights delivers two different services to the community:

A residential service to 20 boys 8 – 18 years, found in need of Care and Protection by a Children’s Court as prescribed in the Children’s Act 38 of 2005

A non – residential services to 30 boys and girls 8 – 18 years living in the community which includes provision of meals and other livelihoods, School support programs, Sport & Recreation Programs and Counselling & Guidance.

How long has your Organisation been operational?

ACVV Bright Lights has been operating since 1 June 2002

In your opinion, what has been the most challenging aspect of running your Organisation?

Upon reaching the age of 18 years the children in our residential care have to leave the organisation. Although for some children this is a smooth process, there are others where the future is not so clear, therefore the most challenging has been to create a program to ensure that the children are ready when they do leave the facility.

Describe your Nonprofit Journey in three words:

Faith, Hope, Love

Do you collaborate with other Causes? If yes, would you like to mention them?

Yes, Designated Child Protection Organisations, Substance Abuse Treatment Centres (In and Out Patient) and specialised counselling services i.e Sexual Abuse

If you had one Organisation wish, what would it be?

To have bigger premises to be able to have bigger and more space for the presentation of programmes to the children

In your opinion, which skills do Nonprofits in your Country lack?

Being able to sell the services that they provide to possible funders

Looking back at your Cause Journey, what advice would you give a newbie Organisation?

Always believe in your own strengths and remember your passion for the people you serve

If you could change one thing about the Nonprofit Landscape, what would it be?

Have organisations collaborating more, instead of everyone just continue doing the same thing on their own.

Which Cause achievement are you most proud of? Feel free to elaborate on why and include any links:

ACVV Bright Lights have been presenting an educational program for the past 12 years to children not attending school, through this effort many children could be returned to school after long periods of absenteeism.

Last question, if your friends had to describe your Organisation in three words, which would they use?

Mission-driven, dedicated
