BeAccentuated is a non-profit organization that has been operating informally for the past 2 years until we finally took the decision to register it on February 2019. So we are new but we’ve been here before. I know you might be thinking why another Ngo, don’t we have enough, what makes it different. We believe what set us apart is our mission which aims to see a future where both girls and boys are equally invested in and supported. We try to provide safe spaces where both girls and boys can learn together and from each other without compromising who they are. We are trying to change some of the stereotypes we grew up with one child at a time, lebitla la mosadi ke bogadi, monna ke nawa, boys can’t cry, girls are too soft or they are not organized. We understand that girls where and are still disadvantage but we don’t think that disadvantaging the boys now is a solution. We can’t raise independent, well communicated , assertive, emotionally intune girls without raising boys to be the same too. We are currently working with both girls and boys around Diepkloof and surrounding arears. We offer mentorship programs and also provide sanitary towels, deodorants, school shoes, stationery and underwears.
