We are a Catholic organisation who provide services for abandoned babies. We facilitate the adoption of children who have been given up for adoption. We believe that every child deserves to have a loving family. Our clients come from all walks of life. We empower women and assist informal settlements by upskilling and providing talks to assist residents in improving their living conditions.

Describe in detail what your Organisation does:

We protect the interests of children. We remove abandoned babies from government hospitals and place them in a place of safety. We hold and orientation at our office every month for parents wanting to adopt. Once they have been screened and all requirements are met, we match them with children, using the RACAP national data base. We provide counselling for all who need assistance. We provide guidance for family preservation. We provide life skills to those in the informal settlements. We give talks to girls as primary and high school on life skills and rape, unplanned pregnancies etc.

How long has your Organisation been operational?

67 years

In your opinion, what has been the most challenging aspect of running your Organisation?

Meeting our financial needs has been the most challenging, the Government grant is not enough to cover Social Workers salaries, medical and transport costs are ever increasing.

Describe your Nonprofit Journey in three words:

Trust in God

Do you collaborate with other Causes? If yes, would you like to mention them?

Yes we do, we work with Matchbox babies, who provide a family to foster babies untill they have been matched with a suitable family.

If you had one Organisation wish, what would it be?

To have our own place of safety so that we can adequately monitor the progress of our babies.

In your opinion, which skills do Nonprofits in your Country lack?

Social Media training.

Looking back at your Cause Journey, what advice would you give a newbie Organisation?

Make sure you have a very good network of agencies who can provide children and families.

If you could change one thing about the Nonprofit Landscape, what would it be?

More financial assistance.

Which Cause achievement are you most proud of? Feel free to elaborate on why and include any links:

We are proud of the fact that although we are a Catholic society, we render services to all religions. Our priority is the well being of our children and adoptive families. We facilitate Indian adoptions as well and have successfully brought in 5 children for Indian families living in South Africa.

Last question, if your friends had to describe your Organisation in three words, which would they use?

Caring, Loving, Helpful
