Dogtown is a specialised rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming centre that cares for the specific needs of abandoned and abused dogs in South Africa. Our dogs come from all over the country to receive our special care. Our staff members are highly educated in animal behaviour and training with certified international qualifications in their fields. Our centre has various areas. Some of our dedicated areas within the centre are Shady Pines Retirement Village to care for older abandoned dogs. We also have a dedicated Sanctuary area for dogs that have more complex struggles and will require dedicated programmes to help them feel more at ease with the world. This sanctuary area can accommodate 20 long term dogs. The majority of our dogs live in our Adorable adoptable area, which is where our adoptable dogs looking for loving homes reside. This is the area volunteers and the public can visit to meet the wonderful dogs we have just waiting for a loving home. We have a networking website barkingmad.co.za which is a central hub for all shelters to post the animals in their care and their events. We run a click to feed project which helps us feed shelter pets around the country
