Rising in Sekhukhune is a non-profit organization that is formed with the sole aim of promoting humanitarian outreach programmes and projects aimed at emancipating the vulnerable from the vicious cycles of socio-economic challenges which include but not limited to unemployment, poverty, food insecurity as well as malnutrition that are highly persistent in previously marginalized communities. Rising in Sekhukhune village harvest project is an initiative aimed at alleviating food insecurity, poverty and malnutrition through a holistic approach to organic vegetable gardening that will make use of both scientific and indigenous knowledge to maximise production which will ultimately carry us towards our goal of having a health and food secure community. The main operations of this project include the introduction of subsistence organic farming in vulnerable households to enable them to have access to nutritious food thus addressing issues of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition. The project also assists existing subsistence farmers to farm commercially through the provision of skills and training which will be achieved in collaboration with other farmers in the locality. Furthermore, the project will also assist in the facilitation of market entry into large-scale organisation supply through the formation of cooperatives consisting of our beneficiaries and other local subsistence farmers.

Training the youth and unemployed mothers in the motor mechanic profession and implementing gardens through the willing community members to create their own employment and sustain the households budgets, and also helping in school uniforms.
