Seeds of Faith (hereinafter referred to as the organisation) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2016 and officially registered in 2018 by Rethabile Matang. The organisation was inspired by her love for helping young children and vulnerable members of society (such as the elderly, young women and victims of abuse and poverty).
The organisation works around four factors which are Feeding, Educating, Empowering and Developing. However, the organisations main and primary focus is Education, with the aim to encourage education through play. The organisation’s focus is primarily young children between the ages 0 -12 years, although our reach is not restrictive to them. The organisation does however not only seek to encourage education through play but to also provide primary and basic needs as well as equipping of life skills for its beneficiaries.

A Toy for Christmas. At Seeds of Faith, we believe in giving and sharing the love we have with others around us. A Toy for Christmas aims to do exactly that, giving in the spirit of festivity, while sharing the love.
According to a report released by Statistics South Africa, more than 62.1% of children aged 0 – 17 years were poor in many ways. Children experience poverty differently to adults and have to depend on others to meet their needs, having no control over household finances and no power to make decisions over their day-to-day lives. As a result of the day they are born to their final years of High School, children born in poverty face far more challenges as opposed to their wealthy peers.
Emergent literacy and numeracy skills amongst others are a key challenge and form the foundation of a child’s future development and learning ability. Even though ECD centre access has increased, some children are still not fortunate enough to see the doors or in impoverished areas, the centres are not well equipped to meet the necessary needs of learning and growing.
That is why it is important for us at Seeds of Faith to give children a sense of belonging by starting as small as giving children educational toys. These toys can help children with logic, motor neuron skills and social skills amongst many. To us, giving a child a toy this Christmas is giving a child a future, building self-confidence and giving them a sense of belonging.
In the year 2018 Seeds of Faith gave more than 200 children toys and party packs in Johannesburg, Gauteng as well as Henneman, Free State. In 2019, Seeds of Faith did not disappoint giving more than 150 children toys and party packs in Welkom and Hennenman, Free State.
