In 2008 history was made in the United States of America when a black man, Barack Obama, was elected president of that country.
Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, conquered racial barriers through the attainment of high education to ascend to the highest political office in the United States and the most influential in the world.Inspired by this historic achievement, Ibbamo Foundation – the acronym stands for Inspired by Barack and Michelle Obama- was established in 2008 to use education as the primary driver for the social and economic upliftment of young Africans. A related objective is to develop future leaders of the African continent in all fields of human endeavor.

The Ibbamo Foundation inspires and empowers young learners between the ages of 14 and 18 years, providing a balanced framework for self-development that will increase their self-esteem and leadership capabilities, as well as enhance their capacity to achieve in whatever context they find themselves in.

The Ibbamo Foundation develops and supports targeted programmes for young people who are committed to building a better Africa. At the core of these programmes is a multi-dimensional approach to youth development: we focus on education as the common point of departure while addressing a basket of youth-related issues.
