MK SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION

The MK Skills Development Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation, founded and Registered with Social Development Department on the 10th of March 2016. It was founded by Pastor Mmabatho Khoza after realising the need students and community members had for financial aid from her MICT SETA Accredited Computer School which is a Registered PTY, LTD Company.
The Foundation focuses on giving sponsored Skills Development Training to unemployed youth, minimum wage earners, unskilled community members, Mamelodi and Reneilwe ABET Centre learners, Orphans, Widows, Poor and Vulnerable community members who cannot afford to further their studies and equip themselves for the job market. The Foundation functions from four Pillars which are: Life Skills, Training, Job Placement and Psychosocial Support.
This initiative aims at equipping young people with skills that empower them to be self-sufficient and employable. Through this initiative they are prepared to use their skills to “break free” from those forces keeping them locked into poverty and illiteracy. We will use our four pillars to achieve these objectives: Information, Advice and Referrals, Social Programmes, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Development.

Describe in detail what your Organisation does: 

WE GIVE INFORMATION, ADVISE AND REFERRALS TO UNEMPLOYED.
WE HAVE A SOCIAL PROGRAMME TO GIVE BASIC NEEDS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHES AND BLANKETS.
IN SKILLS DEVELOPMENT WE GIVE COMPUTER TRAINING TO THE UNDER PRIVILLEGED.
WE GIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING TO UNEMPLOYED AND UNSKILLED PEOPLED.

How long has your Organisation been operational? 

2 YEARS.

In your opinion, what has been the most challenging aspect of running your Organisation? 

FINANCES. I HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEIR FEES. SO I END UP BEING IN AN ABET CENTRE SURROUNDED BY STUDENTS WHO WANT TO ATTEND BUT CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEIR STUDIES.

CHALLENGING, FULFILLING AND LIFE CHANGING

NO

If you had one Organisation wish, what would it be? 

TO GET FUNDING SO THAT I CAN AFFORD TO DO WHAT I AM CALLED TO DO WHICH IS TO SERVE THE POOR WITH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND BASIC HUMAN NEEDS.

In your opinion, which skills do Nonprofits in your Country lack? 

FUND RAISING

Looking back at your Cause Journey, what advice would you give a newbie Organisation? 

NEVER LET GO OF YOUR VISION. BE WILLING TO CARRY THE COST AT ALL COSTS.

If you could change one thing about the Nonprofit Landscape, what would it be? 

THE LACK OF RESOURCES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
